Starting July 16, 2021 all companies that are importing products into the EU must have a local authorized representative. The representative contact details can be either on the product, on the packaging/parcel, or in an accompanying document. This representative cannot be in the UK.
The main issue driving this change is there are many non-compliances on the EU market. The European Union feels that the surveillance system can be improved and will result in a higher conformity of products being introduced the EU. The problem was a result of different surveillance approaches among countries, lack of understanding of rules, and e-commerce direct to consumer models.
